Kayaking

Kayaking is a great way to see and experience the waters of Utila!

Whether new to kayaking, or an experienced kayaker, there are options to fit your needs.

Kayak Rentals:

Many of the dive shops will offer free kayak use to their clients, you can rent some boats at Chepes Beach and at Coral  View Resort in Blue Bayou.  Note that in most cases these will be sit-on-top boats. These are generally quite stable.  Kayaking is relatively new to Utila, so we don’t yet have high- end type rentals. Be sure to check your boats ahead of time for any cracks, etc.

Guided Kayak Trips:

Also, new to Utila this year were guided trips Snorkel Utila.  Snorkel Utila is no longer on island, but there are some excellent trained guides still available.  Check out the informal web portal, Kayak Utila , which has a slew of information on kayaking and snorkeling trips led by a marine naturalist.   

Some kayaking trip ideas:

• -A short trip along our turquoise waters,
• -A longer trip bringing your snorkel gear and stopping at one of our many dive sites,
• -One of our favorites, kayaking through the mangrove channels to the the North side at Rock Harbor, where you can enjoy some fun snorkeling in a bay to yourselves!
• -Also, Kayak Utila, working with long time international operator, Uncommon Adventures,  is bringing an extended week long Utila kayaking excursion to truly “immerse” yourself into Utila’s waters.
