PADI (and NAUI) Divemaster on Utila:

Most of the Utila Scuba shops offer Divemaster Training (DMT).  Before signing on, most people suggest coming to the island, and taking some time to get to know the shop and find which will be the best for you.  Divemaster classes start weekly- if you are on a limited time, its best to contact the shops ahead of time for start date. Almost all  DMTs are done through PADI, and  Alton’s Dive Shop does both PADI and NAUI.

PADI IDC  (Instructor Development Course) on Utila

Only a few Utila Dive Shops offer Instructor Training (known as the IDC- Instructor Development Course).  This is because you need to have a PADI Course Directors lead this course.  In theory, all Padi Course Directors are trained to the same standard and prohibited from straying from the IDC material,  which means the same high standard should be maintained where ever you go.  However, there are of course difference in teaching style, personality, shop “vibe”,  experience,  etc.
