Hi Christina- Not sure if I missed replying to this earlier or if its a new message, but the airport tax increase has been vetoed down for now . Its still at the approx $37.40 usd per person. Thanks for the great work you do for Honduras-

Hi Frank- Wow- sorry you had such a rough go with Hedman Alas. Have you written in to their customer service? I have found their email customer service to be very good. Thanks for the heads up for our readers. I’ve taken them lots of times and most times its been a very smooth ride…Are you of the Haylock stores in Ceiba?

my trip from ceiba san pedro airport with hedman alas march 15 2012 was horrible they tore my luggage and stole my glasses $250 the bus broke down five minutes from the S.P. terminal en route to the airport and it took them over an hour to send another bus.customer service horrible and they charge triple the other buses,i assumed the service would be better, it is a thousand times worse.fhaylock@hotmail.com

I am a member of a non-profit organization that for the past 12 years has been running a clinic in Atima. We have established a standing relationship with local members and doctors and have been able to raise enough funds to build a water treatment plan in the area. The team is composed of roughly 40 medical and about 20 young volunteers from local high-schools. We all volunteer our personal time and money to make this annual trip, in addition to other costs we provide [such as medicines and clothing]. It is costly trip and we are always looking for ways to reduce our costs so we can invest the money into services and medicines that can go directly to the people in the region. We are not there for tourism. It would make sense that the government exempt volunteer groups like ours. Is there anything we can do to reduce this tax? Can we get a letter demonstrating we are non-profit, volunteers so we can request a waiver? I am sure Hondurans would love to see that money go to much needed services and supplies. Thank you for your support.

“I wonder housing prices and rentals of equipment during the festival.”……Gerardo- we don’t have full information on the festival yet, but waiting for the organizers to give us some more details….for now, rentals of hotels and vacation homes are priced as normal, but as it gets closer and there is more publicity, prices will go up…I hope to have full information up my mid- April, so stay tuned!
