To get between Roatan and Utila by boat, there are 2 main providers as below.
(Note: While there used to be a direct ferry between Roatan and Utila, that route has ceased operations for years, though you may still see references to that route online.)
A) Captain Vern’s Catamaran Ferry Between Roatan and Utila

- Getting between Utila and Roatan by cataramaran with Captain Vern

This is your best best to get between Roatan and Utila via boat. Captain Vern Fine is operating his catamaran ferry (Nina Elisabeth II) service dailyduring busy season, and as needed during slower times. This is a great option to get to and from Roatan.
SCHEDULE:
Departs Roatan to Utila: 1pm sharp (or earlier) West End, Half Moon Bay
Departs Utila to Roatan: 6:15am sharp (or earlier) – you can arrange with him which dock on Utila he’ll pick you up at- can get you at Bush’s, UDC, Underwater Vision Altons, and more!
DETAILS:
Time is about 3.5 hours-4 hours
Cost is$55usd per person.
Bring: Be sure to bring some drinks and snacks, as its a 3-4 hour trip. Sunblock as well! And if you tend to get seasick, take seasick pills 45 minutes before boarding (though its a smooth ride in itself, you never know how the seas will affect you).

B) The “Double Ferry” Ride with Roatan Galaxy Wave and Utila Princess
SCHEDULE:
Departs Roatan to La Ceiba: 7:00am and 2:00pm
-This gives you enough time to connect with the Utila Princess Ferry from Roatan to Utila at 9:30am or 4pm
Departs from La Ceiba to Roatan: 9:30am and 4:30pm
-The Utila Princess departures at 6:20am and 2pm gets you to La Ceiba in time to catch these

total price will be about $52 usd- The Roatan Galaxy Ferry is a 1.25 hour trip and $28 usd (524 lempiras) and the Utila Princess is a 1 hourPrice is $22usd. If you have the choice, we suggest going with Vern above as its more direct and a much more pleasant ride!
